inspiring the next generation of players
Girls' football is one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK, and now more than ever, the presence of female coaches is essential to inspire, guide and nurture the next generation of players.
At Percival Coaching, we do just that, and provide a safe and supportive environment for girls to learn football, focusing on coaching that priortises fun and participation over intense pressure.

Football Fern Legend and International Trailblazer
Ria Percival is a retired New Zealand footballer and one of the most iconic figures in the sport. A defensive midfielder, Percival earned 166 international caps—more than any other New Zealand player, male or female.
Starting her career in the UK before moving to New Zealand in 2003, Percival quickly made her mark, becoming the youngest-ever MVP at the National Knockout Cup Final at just 16. Throughout her 18-year football career, Percival played for West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur in the Women's Super League, and played a pivotal role in helping Crystal Palace secure promotion from the Women's Championship. She also represented New Zealand in five FIFA Women's World Cups and four Olympic Games, culminating in captaining the Football Ferns at the 2023 World Cup, which marked the conclusion of her international career.
Following retirement, Ria is now dedicated to inspiring the next generation of footballers, particularly young girls. Through Percival Coaching, she aims to encourage girls of all ages and skill levels to get involved in the sport—whether by playing on the field, supporting their local teams, or simply discovering the joy of football. Ria believes in the power of sport to empower young women, build confidence, and foster a sense of teamwork. She’s passionate about creating accessible opportunities for girls to develop both on and off the pitch. By sharing her wealth of experience and the lessons learned from her remarkable career, Ria seeks to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and demonstrate that football is a game for everyone, regardless of background or ability
